Aaron has had several doctors appointments in his first two weeks. The first was his first newborn checkup at the pediatrician. That was two days after he was born. Here are his stats:
Head - 34.5 cm
Length - 21 inches
Weight - 7 lbs, 5 oz
He lost 6 ounces since he was discharged, so the doctors wanted to make sure he was gaining weight properly. We had to come back to the pediatrician's office on Friday, when Aaron was four days old. His stats for that visit:
Head - 35 cm
Length - 21 1/4 inches
Weight - 7 lbs, 5 oz
Since he hadn't lost any more weight, the doctor decided he was doing fine. My milk was just coming in so they were not very worried and told us to bring Aaron back for his two week visit. Numbers from the two week visit:
Head - 34.5 cm
Length - 21 inches
Weight - 7 lbs, 11 oz
Since Aaron gained weight over that week, they were happy and he was sent home with a clean bill of health. It was actually a pretty funny visit, because the doctor had an resident there with him. He let the resident do the initial exam (with our permission), so it was VERY thorough. I think the resident hadn't seen such a tiny baby and wanted to try out everything he could think of. As a result, Aaron got an extensive exam including a test of all of the typical baby reflexes. It was pretty funny.
