Leah's First Real Bath

Leah's umbilical cord fell off a few days ago, so we were finally able to give her a real bath! Cameron was so excited to help and was a really good helper for her whole bath. His job was to put soap on her and then to wash it off. He relished the job of washing her off - he loved filling his cup with water and dumping it all over her. Leah really liked the bath too, she hardly cried at all and mainly just relaxed and enjoyed it. Cameron has always loved baths, even when he was a little baby, so hopefully Leah will be the same way!

Right after I placed her in the bathtub - she didn't cry or anything, just kind of sat there taking it in.
Hey, this isn't so bad...
Cameron comes in with his washcloth to clean her belly
Mama talking to Leah, telling her what a good girl she is being!
May I dump the water on her?
After being granted permission and being shown how to check the water to make sure it was the right temperature, Cameron dumped cup after cup of water onto Leah.
Washing her back and bum. She really liked lying on her stomach and being washed.
We have a ton of pictures like this because she was being so adorable!!
Time to wash her hair!
Scrub, scrub, scrub
And the rinse!
She didn't mind at all when we dumped water over her head. We took this same approach with Cameron - dumping water on his face and head right from the start - and he is really good about it still. He isn't afraid of dunking his head or getting water on his face. Hopefully our strategy will work the same with Leah!

Wow, has she grown. She doesn't look like a newborn anymore and is getting to be a big girl. We'll have her swimming to Conlon's Island at Otty Lake before the summer is over!
