Leah: Seven Months Old!

Miss Leah's seventh month has been quite a good one. She has had lots of firsts this month! And she is still our sweet Leah pea, of course! When Aunt Beth was visiting, she gave Leah a talisman with a tiger on it because Leah was a born in the Year of the Tiger. She also said that Uncle Takeshi and his dad are both tigers, and they are the sweetest, most good-spirited and kind-hearted people. We thought that was a pretty accurate depiction of Leah, so we are hoping she will continue to live up to her animal.


Leah had a doctor's appointment today (she had a fever so we took her in for a sick child visit - she just has a cold), so we have her official doctor's office weight. At seven months, Leah is 16 pounds, 10 ounces.


Food: Leah has been doing so much better with eating this month. She has tried all of the veggies (green beans, peas, squash, sweet potatoes and carrots) and most of the fruits (bananas, peaches, and apples). Most times she eats, she eats the entire container of baby food and is doing much better opening her mouth to get the food in there! Leah has also tried her first "real" foods - Mum Mum crackers and Cheerios. She doesn't actually get much of either thing in her mouth, but she likes trying to get it there! We have also given Leah a few actual non-baby foods, including some mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving, and small pieces of apple to suck on.

Physical: Leah is a pro at sitting up on her own, but she can now stretch and move and do all kinds of things from the sitting position. She tries to pull herself up onto short things like her toy basket, but hasn't had much success yet. She has started creeping, which is so fun! When she is on her belly, she can move her feet and knees to push herself forward. We put toys a few feet ahead of her and she can move herself forward to get them. She is doing so well! If she is sitting on the wooden floor, she can also scoot herself forward a bit. She is so close to crawling and I am sure she will be doing that soon.


Sleep: There is a night here or there that Leah makes it all the way through, or most of the way through, but for the most part she wakes up at least once during the night. Cameron was the same way, so I am not too surprised. It sure would be nice if she decided to start sleeping through the night though.... Leah, if you are reading this, take note!

Other Stuff: Leah got her first haircut this month! She really didn't need it on most of her hair, but in the front and in the back it was getting really long. Her "bangs" were hanging into her eyes, and in the back she had developed a rat tail! Mama had a haircut one night, so Leah went along and got a trim too.


Another first for Leah was her first swimming lessons this month. She seems to enjoy them and is happy to splash and swim around. Of course, her favorite part of swimming is the toys that she can put in her mouth. We throw a toy and make her reach for it, and then her prize is that she can chomp on it for a while! We don't have any pictures from swimming yet, but we will soon.

November was actually a really nice month, weather-wise, so Leah got to spend a lot of time outside. There will be more detailed posts about some of her trips, but here are some cute pictures of our girl outdoors!
