NY State Fair with the Borsts

The end of August means a visit from the Borsts to go to the NYS Fair.  The kids are always so excited when they know that Jack and Ella are coming to visit!  They arrived on Friday night and on Saturday morning we headed out to the Fair.

The girls!  Leah loves Ella so much.

Not quite tall enough to be the bunny.

High five from this random lumberjack guy.  I'm so glad that Leah isn't afraid of characters anymore.

This cool bug guy came to visit us after lunch

Cameron really liked him

Uncle Jeff is strong.  Or Cameron is light.  Maybe a little bit of both.

Hello cutes!

Part of this year's sand sculpture

And now, a hilarious series of the kids putting their faces through holes in random pictures.

First up, Jack the polka dot bikini girl

Leah's hair got a lot bigger and darker.  Looks like her kind of swimsuit though!

Cameron's turn as polka dot bikini girl

Hmm, seems like Cameron really likes pink swimsuits.

And Ella is a puppy!

On to a new picture.  Jack the squirrel.

Ella the owl

And I think Cameron is a nut?

Now Cam is the squirrel

We went into the horticulture building and they had a butterfly garden.  We purchased some butterfly food and went in.  It was pretty amazing, the butterflies loved the food and came right up to everyone.

Ella smiles for the camera, Leah can't keep her eyes off the butterfly.

Giving Cameron a butterfly

The butterflies liked Cam's bright shirt.  He was a little nervous at first but got to like it.

Ella's shirt or a flower?  The butterfly can't tell.

Lots of butterflies hanging out on the roof

Jack's turn - his shirt wasn't bright or flower-colored.  I guess maybe he just smells good?

Leah got a little overwhelmed by the butterflies and was happy to snuggle in with Daddy and just watch the other kids.

Strollers weren't allowed inside the butterfly garden and since Aaron was snoozing, he stayed outside with Mama and Uncle Jeff.  We had fun people watching...the most interesting people come to the Fair!

An important stop on any Fair visit - wine slushies!

And the other  most important stop at the Fair, the Dairy Building for 25 cent milk.  Jack's a fan.

And so is Ella.

But by far the one who loves the 25 cent milk the most is Jeff.  He drinks a couple dollars work of quarter milk.  He's a cheap Fair date.

I can't remember why Leah was melting down - she wanted to drink the milk?  She didn't want to drink the milk?  Maybe both?  It was a long day at the Fair with no nap, so it wasn't too surprising that she imploded.

Happy baby who DID take a nap!

Both kids bought a cookie.  Cameron was especially enamored with his.

Trying to get a picture of both smiling and looking - this is the best that we got.  Leah likes to make faces!

It was another fun day at the Fair!  That evening we hung out around the house, played games and relaxed.  On Sunday morning Jeff, Kim and Tim woke up bright and early and went golfing.  They started doing that last year and had lots of fun.

Fun in Rochester

While Tim was working on the projects at home, the kids and I went to Rochester for the day.  In the morning we went over to the Langes.

Abby and Aaron

Jaime and Aaron

What cuties!!!  Abby and Leah

As usual, Jaime had an awesome project prepared for the kids.  They had a blast making these with baking soda and colored vinegar.  The girls all made beautiful colors with their vinegar. Cam's is on the back right, a mess of vinegar and not so much baking soda.  They all had fun though.

Cameron's hands got a little bit messy

And so did his butt!

After lunch we went over to Aunt Cathy's for a party

Opa the baby whisperer had Aaron asleep in no time

Amanda decided to have a hula hooping contest.  I think that we were doing hula hooping around our knees at this point, and not that I was about to lose the contest.

Amanda was by far the best hula hooper.

Leah wanted to swing

For some reason that I can't remember, she threw a fit halfway over to the swings.

Then she recovered, just as quickly, and went on with her swinging.

She was still pouty though, in that I-can't-smile-for-the-camera-even-though-I-want-to kind of way.

She is beyond adorable, even when trying to act mad.

The hula hooping contest continues and now it is Nana's turn.

It was a fun day for us in Rochester and Tim got a lot more done without us there in the way at home.
