Trencher/Grass project

All summer Tim has had a couple of projects that he has wanted to get done in the yard.  The main one was putting several faucets/hose hook ups out away from the house - near the garden, out near the berries, and by the shed.  The other project had to wait until closer to the end of the summer and that was to redo the entire side lawn, killing all of the old grass and planting it entirely new.  This weekend he decided to rent a dingo and got both a trencher and cultivator attachment so that he could take care of both projects.

Overall the projects went well.. other than the chopped FIOS line (oops, the cable was not buried quite as deep as the Verizon people indicated), the lack of hot water for a day (need to make sure that one has the correct tools BEFORE cutting the hot water line), the dingo falling into the trench (thank goodness for friends with big trucks) and the cut septic pipe (only an outpipe anyway, and dry as a bone).  When they were all done both projects looked great though.  Well, the water faucets look and work great... so far we can't tell much with the new grass but the old stuff sure is gone!

A few pictures from the weekend:

This is a foundation drill.  It is serious business.

Looks even bigger next to a little guy.

Tim used it to drill through the foundation to run several pipes that would go out to each of the faucets.

Partially finished yard, with a trench dug to re-run the FIOS line.

Once the cable was re-run, Tim did a final pass over the yard with the cultivator, then seeded the whole thing.  It doesn't look like much now, but hopefully it will turn out as beautifully as the backyard that Tim redid last year.

The truck that the equipment came on with dingo and cultivator in the background.

This is when the dingo fell into the trench.  Oops.  It took a very large truck to pull it back out.  That thing is HEAVY.

The finished trench out to the garden on the left side of the house.  It will be so nice to be able to water the garden without having a bunch of hoses running all over the yard.

Trench out to the berries on the right side of the house.

Looking back at the house, brand new faucet in the foreground.

Both projects turned out great!
