We didn't have a lot of free weekends available in September so we knew that if we wanted to go apple picking, we would have to squeeze it in whenever there was time. One weekend it was pouring all morning, then the sun came out. Looking at the weather radar, it looked like we had two hours of sun before the second wave of rain hit. We quickly packed the kids into the car and drove to a local farm to pick some apples. They happened to be having a fall festival as well, so the kids got to do some extra fun stuff as well.
Our first stop was the animals; here is Leah checking out the goats
And Cameron doing the same. Both kids started off at a cautious distance, not wanting to get too close to the goats.
Leah was baa-ing at the sheep and the sheep would baa back. It was so funny!
Once they figured out they could feed the goats, they were much more interested in getting up close.
Leah's turn to feed the goats
Cam really liked it (and the goats liked him...well, when he had food at least!)
Checking out the chickens
Leah ready to pick some apples
Cameron wanted to pick a HIGH apple
So of course Leah had to do the same!
Then we got to some trees that had apples at Leah's height. She loved picking them!
Mama and kiddos in the apple rows
Leah found a tiny apple and took tiny bites of it.
Cameron ate his apple with a bit more vigor. They were so yummy right off the trees!
Leah was willing to get right into the middle of the tree to find apples at her height
I think the apple is almost as big as her head!
Once the bag was full of apples and heavy, Cameron let Daddy carry it.
Not sure what Leah was doing here, but it is cute!

Love my babies!
Once all the apples were picked, the kids wanted to go on the bounce house. Cam was bouncing like a mad man and doing all kinds of crazy flips. Occasionally (like in this picture), a flip ended in a face plant!
They could have bounced for hours but we saw the storm rolling back in so we moved them along to check out the rest of festival.
They had face painting, but Leah didn't want her face painted. She asked for a butterfly on her arm and sat very still the entire time while the girl painted it.
I don't know what kind of silly face Leah was making here, but you can see her butterfly. She picked all of the colors and asked for the stripes and polka dots. When it was done, she was so proud of how beautiful it was.
Cameron picked Spiderman for his paint. It doesn't exactly look like Spiderman to me, but he was happy with it.
The final stop at the festival was a giant slide. It was awesomely tall and the kids were so excited to go on it. The ladder was pretty tricky so Leah needed Daddy's help to get up there. I think Daddy was pretty excited that he had to help because the slide was really cool.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
This picture of Leah sliding cracks me up. She loved it!
So did Daddy!
As we were on the giant slide, the sky was getting darker and darker. Luckily, Tim had grabbed the umbrellas out of the car because as we were getting our shoes back on, the sky opened up. It went from nothing to POURING in about two seconds. Tim scooped up Cameron and I grabbed Leah and we went running back to the car. It was raining so hard we all got soaked, despite the umbrellas. It was a fun time for the couple of hours when the sun was shining though. And the apples were delicious!!
