Fun with the Giant Pumpkin

A couple years ago we took some cute pictures of Cameron in a pumpkin (see them here), and we thought that would be something fun to do again. Since Cameron said that he wanted to fit in this year, we knew we would need to get a big pumpkin. We stopped at a farm stand near our house and found a bunch of huge pumpkins. We got one that was around 110 pounds!! It is huge and took both of us to lift into the car.

On Sunday we decided to take pictures in the pumpkin. We brought it inside and first we had to scoop it out. Leah wanted to investigate the giant orange thing. She thought it was really cool.

Mama had the honor of scooping out all the pumpkin guts.

Leah was very interested in the pumpkin guts. Cameron, not so much.

Leah also wanted to eat the pumpkin guts.

Time for the photo shoot! Leah is confused.... why am I inside the giant orange thing?

Hmm, this is interesting.

What a cutie! She was so good in the pumpkin.

Then it was Cam's turn. He really liked being in the pumpkin.

Laughing at Mama, who was being silly on the sidelines.

Then it was time for Cam and Leah in the pumpkin together! Cam thought it was fun, Leah was even more confused.

What cute kiddos!

Scaredy faces?

It was a very fun photo shoot and the kids were great. I don't know if we will be able to do this again next year, cause Cam might be too big... but lots of fun for this year!

Cam Cutes: Two Videos

Has it really been two weeks since we last posted? Oops... sorry about that! Things have been a bit crazy around here.

We actually just have two cute videos to post. First, here is Cameron dancing at the Oktoberfest. Make sure to keep watching because his little Fraulein Abby joins him at the end - so cute!

Cameron has been taking swimming lessons since he was six months old. In this past session, he has started to swim on his own with the help of a bubble. He is doing such a great job and is so proud of himself for swimming on his own!

Oktoberfest!

A few weekends ago we went to the Irondequoit Oktoberfest. We go every year, and of course this year was no exception. What made this year special was the outfits! Cam wore lederhosen that he got from Barbara and Friedbert in Germany, and his friends Bridgette and Abby wore homemade (by their mom, Jaime) dirndls. They looked so ridiculously cute, everyone was going nuts over them. They had their pictures taken by tons of strangers, which was a bit odd. But they were so cute, we couldn't blame the other people!

First we went to the kid's area. They had a clown who made balloon animals and a bounce house. Cam chose a frog as his balloon animal, but he wanted to wear it as a bracelet.

Then it was time for the bounce house!

He liked the slide part better than the actual bouncing.

We tried to get a picture of all three kids together in their outfits, looking at the camera. It was a lost cause because everyone was too excited. Bridgette with her princess wand, Cam with his frog and Abby with her turtle bracelet. Aren't their outfits awesome?

After we were done in the kids area, we went into the tent and found a spot to sit. It was super loud, but that didn't bother Leah. She conked right out after a few minutes rocking in Omi's arms and slept for a good amount of time, despite the loud music.

Cameron and Opa danced a lot - unfortunately we didn't get any good pictures of both of them.

Leah woke up and decided to wear the German hat. She didn't have a dirndl to wear, but next year she will!

We had dinner (schnitzel platters) and then got strudel for dessert. Not surprisingly, Cam LOVED it!

Later in the evening, Cam also got a pretzel. That pretzel saved us from a major meltdown, so we were very grateful to it!

In between all of the eating and talking, there was A LOT of dancing. The kids absolutely loved to dance and spent most of the night on the dance floor. This is where all of the random people took pictures of the kids.

Cam and Abby get down - this may have been during the chicken dance

Throw your hands in the air like you just don't care

After dancing, a guy gets pretty tired and just need some refreshments

Jeff took a ton of pictures too, so here are a bunch of his. Tons of cute ones of Abby and Cam! Bridgette conked out early, so there were not too many of her dancing with the other two kids.

There was a collective "Awwwwwwwwwwwwww" from the crowd when Abby and Cam held hands and danced.

Cam doing some solo moves

He loves dancing!

Cam and Leah even danced a bit. I am sure next year they will dance a ton!

For most of the dances, Leah danced with Omi and Opa

Cameron loved the Oktoberfest and asks us most nights when we can go again. He loves to dance at home, so having a party that was devoted to dancing was pretty much heaven for him. And he didn't even care that we dressed him all up, and didn't seem to notice everyone fawning over his little German boy cuteness. Hopefully we can get another year or two out of these lederhosen, and he will still agree to wear them!

Cathy and Ron's Wedding, Part 4: The Reception

After dropping of Leah with Nana and Poppa, Cameron, Tim and I headed over to the reception. It was only a few blocks away from our hotel, so we were able to walk over. That was great! It also meant that when Cameron was exhausted and ready to go home, Poppa could walk right over and get him.

First there was a cocktail hour. It was in a tent out on a dock and was a beautiful setting. Here are the Browns/Emmons (Tim's aunt and uncle and their families) - Matt, Katharine, David, Natalie holding Caroline, Tim and Connie

Kim and Jeff

After cocktail hour we headed up to the reception site. It was a really neat place called the Bristol Harbor Inn. Wedding party introductions... Tim and his partner, Megan (Ron's sister)

Ella and Cameron walked in together. Jack was going to accompany them but decided not to at the last minute.

Tom giving his speech. I love his expression in this picture because it reminds me so much of the same face that both Tim and Cameron make.

Ron listening to the speeches

Cameron eating dinner. The kids got chicken nuggets and fries - can't beat that!

Ella looked beautiful in her dress and jewelry

Cutting the cake! They were nice and didn't smush into each other's faces at all.

Father-daughter dance

Cameron danced with Auntie Cathy and smothered her with kisses

Auntie Cathy with a not-very-thrilled Cameron. At least Auntie looks good, even if Cam does have a sour puss on!

Jack and Ella getting down! All of the kids were great dancers.

Cathy and Ron's Wedding, Part 3: The Ceremony

And now, back to our regularly scheduled wedding posts! Sorry for the interruption, but if I don't do those monthly posts right around Leah's month birthdays, I won't remember. I found that out with Cam (where I missed his 5 month post), so I am trying to be really good with Leah's.

And now, the wedding!

Waiting for the wedding to start, the two ring bearers were getting a bit antsy. Luckily, we had the iPod Touch to keep them amused.

Nana and Poppa came down to RI for the weekend to watch Cam and Leah. We really appreciated it because it meant we could have some fun in the evenings! Here is Poppa and Leah snuggling before the wedding started. It was a bit chilly so we kept Leah all wrapped up!

During the processional, we didn't get very many pictures. Tim was a groomsman, so he couldn't take pictures. I stayed with the little boys, waiting for their turn in the processional, so I couldn't take pictures until they went down the aisle. So here is my only picture of the wedding party - Cam and Jack the ring bearers!

The happy couple

Ella, Jack and Cameron were adorable during the recessional. Ella put out her arms, grabbed the boys and marched them down the aisle. Very cute!

There were containers of bubbles, and Cam had a great time blowing bubbles!

Then it was time for formal photos. I stood back and off to the side to take the pictures, so some of them are at a funny angle!

We tried for a family photo, but Leah was sleeping and Cam was cranky. This is about the best that we got...
