Leah's Baptism Party

Later in the afternoon, after Leah's baptism, we had a party at our house. It was the first real party that we have had at our house and it went really well. We put a bunch of tables and chairs in the garage for everyone to sit, and had a bunch of toys and games outside to play with. We cooked hamburgers and hot dogs, and everyone brought a bunch of salads and other good stuff. It was a great party!

Leah and her cake. It was yummy!

Cameron in his outfit of choice for the afternoon - his bathing suit and his rain boots

We had bean bags, bocce, KanJam, Slip N' Slides, and tons of balls and frisbees

Hanging out on the driveway and coloring with chalk

Most people stayed in the garage where there was shade. It was a hot day!

Later that night, Leah was hungry. Uncle Paul's nose was the closest thing to bite on to, apparently.

The girls - Ella and Leah

And the boys - Jack and Cam. As you can see, the boys are a little crazier than the girls!

Cousins!!

Poppa and Cameron love to play together

Uncle Paul and Leah

Uncle Paul, Leah, Aunt Angela and Cameron. We were so glad that Paul and Angela could come for the weekend, it was great to see them!

On Sunday night, we saw a rainbow. We realized that the last time we had seen a rainbow was the night that Leah was born. She was born on May 1st, and this rainbow came out on August 1st... both right around 6pm. It was a weird coincidence!

Leah's Baptism

On July 31st, Leah was baptized at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Liverpool, NY. Her godparents are Uncle Paul and Auntie Cathy. The baptism was really nice, we had our own ceremony on Saturday morning. It was officiated by Deacon Steve and he did a great job making it personal, interesting and involving the kids.

Here is Leah in her baptism gown. This gown was worn by her great-grandpa (John Kinsella) and all his siblings, her Poppa (Tim Kinsella) and all his siblings, her Mama and uncles, most of her Kinsella cousins, and Cameron. The gown is almost 100 years old and is beautiful but very fragile.

The deacon puts the sign of the cross on Leah's forehead

Deacon Steve held Leah while everyone came up to the front and traced the sign of the cross on her forehead. Being that there were 40 people at the baptism, it took a while! Leah sat like a good girl the whole time, just looking at everyone who came up to her.

Then the deacon called all the kids down to the front. He talked about the four symbols of baptism in a way that the kids could understand them. He asked them a lot of questions, and Cameron was extremely chatty and answered a lot of them. It was very cute!

All of the grandparents and great-grandparents bless the water in the baptismal font

Leah gets water poured on her head. She didn't even made a sound or react much when it happened. Apparently all that water we dump on her head at bathtime works!

Uncle Paul lit the baptism candle from the Easter Candle and we all held it while the deacon said a prayer

The whole family. Cam was not in the mood for pictures.

Lots of cousins, aunts and uncles

It was a beautiful ceremony! Thank you so much to everyone who came to celebrate with us!

Beaver Lake with Nana and Poppa

A few weekends ago, it was really nice weather so we decided to go for a hike at Beaver Lake. Nana and Poppa came with us.

When we first got there, a cool motorcycle pulled up beside us in the parking lot. Cam decided to talk to the people who got off the bike and they asked if he wanted to sit on it. Of course, the answer was YES!

We had a picnic lunch first. There are not any good photos from the lunch, but this is a cute one of Cam just after lunch.

The trails are not particularly stoller friend, so we decided to give the Baby Bjorn a try. It was okay but I definitely like the wrap better. I was afraid that Leah was suffocating in my chest the whole time we were walking!

Cam had a blast looking at all the stuff on the trail and playing in it. This was three giant trees growing together. Cam got into the middle of it and tried to reach up and touch the leaves.

There were lots of trees knocked over so we got a lot of chances to look at huge root structures. Of course, Cam asked "Why, why, why?" so he got some good science lessons.

He picked this rock out of the root structure and was proud to show it to Daddy.

After a bit of walking, Cameron got tired. Luckily Poppa was there to take him for a ride.

Nana and Cam look out over the lake.

We also did a geocache while we were there. Cam put a toy in there and picked out bubbles as his treasure.

I don't remember what Cam was doing in this picture, but from the look on his face, he wasn't in the mood to have his picture taken!

Cam and Poppa fooling around. It looks like Cam is having a little bit more fun than Poppa is though!

There were some really cool low hanging vines. Cam used this one as a swing.

Daddy, Cam and Poppa went running down the trail.

A nice family picture

It was a fun walk - as Cameron gets bigger, he is getting so curious about things. It is great to see his mind working and hear the questions that he asks.

Puerto Rico: Day 7/8 - Swimming!

Here is a photo of Cam, fast asleep in the big bed. The morning at El Morro and Old San Juan really wore him out!

After naptime, the rain had stopped and it was very warm. We decided to head out and go swimming before it started raining again. Here is Leah in her other very cute bathing suit!

Mama and Leah went for a swim. The water was so warm that Leah could stay in for a quite a while. She really liked it.

Oh wait, we have one other family picture from our trip! Here we are in front of the pool.

The next day was the day we were leaving, but our flight didn't leave until 3:30 in the afternoon, so we had all morning to hang out. First we went down to the beach, where Cam spent a lot of time playing in the sand and we all went for a swim. It wasn't anywhere as nice as Luquillo beach, but the ocean was warm and Cam had fun in the sand. The picture below is a bit foggy; our camera didn't like the muggy weather and we got a lot of foggy pictures!

Looking down the beach at Isla Verde.

We went back into the pool after being on the beach for a bit. Daddy and Cam went for a swim.

Then Leah had a turn swimming with Daddy.

Daddy with both kids!

There was a kid's pool that had a water slide into it. Cameron was tentative at first, but once he went down it and figured out how fun it was, he wanted to go down again and again.

He didn't even mind going under water when he got to the end of the slide.

Around noon we went back to the hotel room and packed up our stuff. We had an easy rental car drop off and check in at the airport, and the first flight wasn't bad at all. Cameron watched a movie and took a nap, and Leah was a very good girl. When we got to Atlanta, we found out that our second flight was delayed. It was already a late flight so we were nervous about how the kids would be. Luckily, we found a quiet spot to sit in near our gate and hung out waiting for our plane to leave. Leah liked lying on the chair and looking around.

Cam wasn't shy about sprawling out to play with the "Game Phone" (aka Tim's iPod Touch). He also had fun chatting with random people, all of whom thought it was very charming.

We finally got home around midnight that night, but both kids were fantastic despite the late night. We already knew that Cam was a great traveler, so it was wonderful to see that Leah is too. This will be the first of many family trips, and it was a great one!!
