Picking out our pumkin and Halloween

Because we have been so busy getting the house packed up, moving out and moving into Mom and Dad's house, we haven't had a chance to do much for Halloween yet. So on Halloween Day, we packed all of the usual Halloween activities into one day.

First we went out and got pumpkins. One bonus for waiting until the last minute is that pumpkins were really cheap! That was a nice bonus, and Cam didn't know any better. :-P

Besides pumpkins, there were some other activities at the place we went. Here, Cam and Mama are dinosaurs!
We also went through a hay maze. Cam lead the way the entire time, and he didn't make one mistake. It was actually really weird, he always went down the correct path. I guess he has a good sense of direction, or else he is a good guesser!

We went back to Nana and Poppa's and carved the pumpkins. Cameron chose all of the facial features for the big pumpkin, and Tim carved it. Mama went to town on the little pumpkin, and what started off as a happy, grinning pumpkin turned into a vampire pumpkin!

We put the pumpkins outside and got Cam into his costume. When we went out to take his pictures on the porch, he only wanted to look into the pumpkins to see the candles.
Finally, happy with his look at the "birthdays" inside the pumpkin, he smiled for a nice picture and we went out trick or treating. He wanted to walk and wasn't too quick, so we only went to about ten houses before he got tired out. He had a GREAT time though!! He loved saying "trick or treat", loved getting stuff in his bucket, and loved looking at the decorations in everyone's yards.

Cameron's loot dumped out. He is holding another special treat, a little pumpkin stuffed animal that Cameron really likes. The rest is candy and various other snacks. He was very happy with the whole thing and at bedtime, announced "I like trick or treat."

New House Update

Well I should really do a post about Halloween today, but I don' t have the pictures off the camera yet. Instead here is a quick update on the house since I haven't done one in a while.

Probably the most exciting thing happening is that the cabinets are being installed. Here are the kitchen cabinets being put into place.

In the rest of the house the trim work is being finalized. Here is a picture of the trim in the dining room.

The foyer, I think the trim really stands out with the wall colors we've picked.

This is the master bedroom. The color here is the same as the guest bedroom in our old house. All of the colors look a lot different online then in person but this should give everyone from out of town an idea.

And an updated outside view of the house although I don't think anything has changed since the last outside shot. Since this picture was taken the grass has really started to grow! Only other things left on the outside are lights and shutters.

Next week hopefully they will finish the hardwoods, finish getting the cabinets in and finish the painting and trim. We still need to get the lights, pick out the tile border in the master bath shower, pick out the tile backsplash in the kitchen and I think that's it for choices! We picked the carpet out yesterday so after the hardwoods are done being sanded that should go in. The heat is on in the house and running well of just the Geothermal. Sure seems like the end is in sight, but we'll see.

Cameron's Halloween Parade at School

We have a whole bunch of posts that we have been meaning to put up but with the move and everything else going on we have been really bad. Here is a start.

Today at Cam's daycare they had a Halloween parade in the gym. Here are a few pictures.

Cam in his Pooh as a bumble bee costume. First the 4 year olds came in and sang a couple of songs and then all of the rest of the kids came in and did 3 laps around the Gym. Cam didn't want to keep going once he saw that Mama, Dada, Nana, and Poppa were there.

After parading around the gym we went back to Cam's room for some pictures and ...

Cookies! I'm not sure why Cam had his lip out like that because he was loving the cookie, but I thought it was cute.

Cameron's friend Alaina was all tuckered out and was falling a sleep on the table!

I think Cam was afraid somebody might try to steal his cookie or milk. Notice he is using a big boy cup!

Getting ready

We have been spending the last few days getting ready to move out of our house. There has been a lot of preparation - both physical and mental. Probably mainly physical for Tim, and mainly mental for me. We have been packing a ton of stuff into boxes, some of which go to Mom and Dad's and most of which go to the storage unit. Tomorrow we are renting a truck to bring all of the other big things to the storage unit: couch, tables, chairs, bed frames, dressers, rugs, etc. I am sure there is more that I can't even think of. Then we have many more boxes to pack. Right now, our closets are empty - everything at Mom and Dad's - and our dressers are pretty much empty too. The main places where we still have stuff left is the kitchen, the basement and the garage. Today Mom and Dad came over to help and we moved a TON out to both the storage place and to their house.

And then the hard part (for me, at least) is the mental preparation. I get very attached to things... yes, even inanimate objects like houses. It is tough, we have lived here for over five years! We bought this house together before we were even married. It was (obviously), the first big thing we did or bought together. This is the place we came home to on our wedding night, and the place that we brought Cameron home to when he was born. A lot has happened here! From my place on the couch, I can see the spot in the dining room where the wine rack was that the newlyweds collected all their Finger Lakes wine in, but then was moved to make room for the changing table when Cameron came along. Along the same line, I can see what the upstairs small bedroom used to be: my office, before it was changed over to make a bedroom for Cam. And I can remember the progression of the guest bedroom, getting more and more full of furniture that was moved out of other places. Every place in this house has memories like that and that is what is going to make it hard to leave. I am excited to be moving into the new house eventually, but moving out of this hard is going to be tough!

Tomorrow will be the first night we are sleeping at Mom and Dad's, so we will see how I do with leaving this house behind.

New House Update

I was thinking about doing a post with pictures from our current house emptying out but I don't feel like taking pictures. So here are some updated pictures of the new house from Friday.

But first this is what our second storage unit looks like. Well before this weekend's loads. We have a 5 ft x15 ft unit full already.

This is a picture of the Hardwood samples on the floor, while we were trying to figure out what color to go with. The Arrow is pointed to what we picked.

I like how this picture has the colors of Cam's room and the guest bedroom glowing from the door way.This will be Cameron's bedroom. I love the foliage colors through the window. You can also see the trim well in this picture and the doors are almost all in.This is the middle bedroom.This is the guest bedroom. They have finished hydro seeding the lawn - you can see here that the lawn is half seeded. You can also see the paver walk way to the front door.

They have also painted the main hall bathroom with the color the rest of the common areas will be and we are very happy with the color. We didn't have the camera with us when I went Friday night so hopefully the next pictures will have all of the rooms painted and trimmed.

The cabinets are supposed to be delivered on Monday and they will start installing them next week. I can't wait, I think that will have the biggest impact on it feeling like its almost done!

Cam Cutes: Sunday Stories

On Sunday Tim had to work all day, so Cam and I were on our own for the day. Cameron was especially cute (except for the three hours I struggled to get him to take a nap, then stay down for a longer nap, then rest quietly instead of run around in his crib) so there were lots of sweet stories from the day.

Our house is currently a mess because we are trying to get everything packed up. Cameron's toys are in a couple of baskets in the corner of our living room. On Sunday he arranged them in a semi-circular shape around one of the corners, and then got into the corner. He looked up at me and said "Me in me clubhouse" and then proceeded to play quietly in there for an hour or two. He talked to himself the whole time, creating elaborate scenarios with his cars, animals and the baskets.

At one point he got out of his clubhouse and brought me his Little People ark (Noah's ark) full of his cars. "Mama, look", he said, "Wow, lots of cars!!" He then proceeded to sort them all out onto my lap. Since he is obviously my child, he took the cars out of the ark in color order and got upset if he missed one of a certain color. I was glad to see my peculiarities were passed on to the next generation! :-P

Nana and Poppa are in Germany for two weeks, so we went over to do some stuff at their house. The whole car ride over there, I was telling Cam that Nana and Poppa would not be at the house, that it would just be us there. He nodded and seemed to understand, but the minute we got in the house he called out for Nana and Poppa. I told him again that they weren't there. He nodded again, but then went wondering around the whole house looking for Nana and Poppa and calling out their names. I let him wonder while I took care of everything. Occasionally I heard him singing "Hap Birday to Nana"... I guess maybe he thought that singing to her would bring her out of hiding?

While I was watering a plant in the dining room, he came up to me and said, "No Poppa here. Poppa in air." Confused, I said, "Where is Poppa?". He looked at me like I was slow, then clarified, "Poppa in airplane, in air." Well yes, that was right... the last Cam knew, Poppa was going in an airplane. I was impressed that Cam remembered because they had left a little more than a week before. Cam spent the rest of the time we were there repeating to me "Nana, Poppa in air".

After Nana and Poppa's house, we had a bunch of errands to run. First we went to AC Moore, where Cameron was very good. He rode in the cart and was a good boy the whole time. At the checkout he got a sticker from the cashier, and was quite delighted. Next we went to Walmart, where he was pretty good but getting antsy. We didn't end up getting anything there. Our final stop was to Wegmans, where Cam was definitely done with running errands. He wasn't bad but had to be constantly entertained in order to not go crazy. We talked as we shopped around the whole store, and several times I had to tell him to "Be good!". When we got up to the cashier, he said to her "Me good, me have sticker?" I started to explain that not every cashier had stickers, but the cashier pulled one out for him, so he was very happy("One, two stickers! Me have one, two stickers!") and was good for the rest of the trip home.

Only 3 Weeks until we are out of our house!

It's hard to believe that in 3 weeks we will be moving out of 18 Nightingale. We still have so much to pack. The new house is coming along well though so we will hopefully only be at Mom and Dad K's for about a month. The latest projection is an end of November closing for the new house. Here are some updated pictures so you can see where it is at.

Some closet doors are up and the rest are going up this weekend.They are also starting to paint the upstairs this weekend. We picked all of our colors, but it will be interesting to see what it looks like on an entire room. We are not very good at colors, but we figure we can always repaint if we have to. :-P

New House Pictures update

We haven't put up any pictures of the house in a while so I figured I'd give a quick update. The stone work on the front of the house is done, and the septic was installed. Now the only things left to do outside are the driveway, leveling and seeding the lot.

Inside they have put the first coat of primer on the walls. Here is a picture of the front door.

The tile is in in the laundry room. It still has a skim coat of the grout on it.

Family Room, the stone is in around the fireplace. There will be a wood mantle around the stone.

The tile work should be done early this week. Monday they are supposed to start putting in the hardwood floors, which will throughout the first floor. Once they are done with that, the cabinets will be brought in and they will start on the trim work. It will really start to take shape then.

Weekend in Swansea

The weekend we went to the Red Sox games, we also spent the weekend in Swansea. We got to spend a great day with everyone. We had lunch at Auntie Cathy and Ron's house and it looks great!! Cameron LOVED playing with Ella and Jack and asked them "Please Stay" when they left. Unfortunately we did not take too many pictures, but here are a few cute ones!
