Sick Baby

Remember the Gross Cam story? Here are two pictures of Cameron that night, when he was so sick but so sweet. He spent the whole night cuddled up on my lap.

Cam at 18 months

Cameron had his 18 month checkup on Wednesday this past week. Everything is great, although Cameron spent the entire checkup giving the doctor the stink eye. He was seriously suspicious of everything the doctor was doing. Cam also got a shot, which he took like a man. He stared at the nurse, gave her the stink eye, and then came looking for a hug. On the way to the hug he noticed his bright orange bandaid and was immediately smitten. He smiled up at the nurse who he was just glaring at, and gave her a big "Tank Ou". Here are his stats from the appointment:

Height - 32 3/4 inches - 70th percentile
Weight - 24.1 pounds - 20th percentile
Head - 47 cm - 70th percentile

So my boy is still a tall, skinny, big-headed cutie!

To finish up the post, here are a couple cute pictures from Nana and Poppa:

Cameron enjoying a cupcake for Uncle Matt's birthday
He ate all of the cake part and didn't want any of the frosting. What an odd kid!
On another night, Cameron ate a bunch of pickles. He put them into his mouth like this without any prompting.

Cam's Second Easter

Since Tim was gone during Easter, we waited until he came back to have Easter at our house. On his second Easter, Cameron got to open two packages (one from Auntie Kim and one from Mimi/Grandpa), look for his Easter basket, and go on an egg hunt in the yard. We have some pictures from the package opening and the egg hunt, but Cam looking for his basket is on video so I don't have that to post right now.

I love ripping paper and opening packages
What is in the box, Mama?
What a cute bunny, I will give it a kiss!
Woohoo, more paper!
Whoa, check that toy out
Chalk and bubbles?? Wow!
These are all mine, right?
Goldfish! Auntie Kim knows what I like!
Ready for my Easter egg hunt
Here is an egg
Look, I found them all.
This one is orange
Does this thing fit on my head?
That was fun, thanks Mama and Daddy!

Train Show

While Tim was in Iraq, Cameron and I had to do some things to fill our time. On one of the weekends, Cam and I went to a train show at a local mall. It was just a small show, a bunch of folks from a train club who set up their small trains. There was also a large scale display model set up, that was really cool. Here are a few cute pictures of Cam from the train show. He LOVED it! We probably would have stayed there for hours if Cam had his way.

Cam stories

First, a couple of "Cam Cutes" stories
1) Tim was on travel last week, and one day when he was gone, Cameron woke up waaaay too early. In an effort to get him to sleep for a while longer, I brought him into my bed. He lay down next to me and settled in to sleep, then all of a sudden bolted up. He looked over at Tim's side of the bed and said "Dada?" and made the sign for "where?". I said, "Remember, Dada went on an airplane to his meeting and he will be back in a few days." Cam solemnly nodded his head, said "air-pane" and lay back down and immediately went to sleep.

2) Another morning when Tim was out of town, Cam was in our bed (again... do you sense a trend?) and couldn't get comfortable. He was obviously tired but just couldn't find the comfy spot in the bed. I kept trying to settle him, but nothing was working. Finally, Cam started saying "Tin, tin". I had no idea what he wanted... blanket? book? sippy? Nothing was right. He just kept repeating "Tin, tin, tin". He was obviously trying to enunciate whatever he was saying, but I just couldn't figure it out. Finally, i thought I might have it: "Do you want me to sing?" Cameron said "Ya", lay down and waited for the singing to start. By the time I was done with Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and headed into You Are My Sunshine, he was out like a light. Sweet boy!!

And now, as a special bonus, a "Crazy Cam" story:
1) We have a ride-on fire truck toy that Cameron has recently become enamored with. He rides around on it, parks it (under his little table), pushes it around to various places. He has been loving it lately! This weekend, Mama was feeling a bit under the weather so I was resting on the couch. Dada was doing something in the kitchen, and walked back into the living room to see Cam on his fire truck, headed straight for the stairs down into the foyer. Tim dove to stop it, but Cam was too quick. The little daredevil rode the fire truck down the three steps, toppled over the front of the fire truck and bumped his head on the ground. After tears from Cameron and panic from Mama and Dada (and a full check for concussion symptoms), Cameron was back to running around, jumping and being the usual crazy man he always is.

And finally, as an extra special bonus, a "Cam Gross" story. Read at your own discretion!
1) This past Thursday, Tim had a softball game. I picked Cam up from school and decided that we would go watch some of the game. We were a bit late, so I was moving quickly to try and get to the game. Cam, sitting in his car seat in the back seat, started coughing quite madly. I moved my rearview mirror to get a better look and make sure he was okay. He recovered from the coughing just fine, but a few seconds later he started retching and threw up EVERYWHERE. He completely covered himself, his clothes, the entire carseat. Not a drop on the rest of the car though, but he was just covered. We were almost at the softball fields so I kept going, and since we were late Tim's game was over. We caught him walking to the snack hut and I yelled "Napkins, quick!" - Tim took one look in the backseat and knew why. At this point we went with divide and conquer - Tim stripped and washed Cam, I took care of the car seat, the best we could given we only had napkins. We wrapped Cam up in my coat and took him over to Tim's car to drive home - we didn't want him to have to sit in his vomit-covered carseat in my car. We waited for a while, but Cam was in a great mood and seemed fine, so I put him into Tim's car and away we went. A couple minutes into the drive, guess what happens? No big surprise... Cam throws up again. Not quite so much this time, mainly only on himself and pooling in the buckle of the carseat, but a mess still. We got home, I cleaned him off, brought him upstairs and got him cleaned up and into pajamas. He was so tired and listless, but wanted to be held, so the rest of the evening we spent on the couch with a bowl. He figured out pretty quickly that if he was going to be sick again, he needed to put his head over the bowl and let the "uck uck" go into the bowl. My poor sweetie!! He woke up the next morning feeling like new, and has been fine ever since. The two carseats and cars on the other hand...

Cam's so pretty, oh so pretty...

Cam and I were in Rochester this past weekend for Abby's first birthday party. Cam had a blast playing with the girls, he missed "Aba" and "Didgi" (his names for Abby and Bridgette). We stayed over night at Jeff and Jaime's, and in the morning when I got out of the shower, this is what I found...

Cameron the German Fraulein
Seriously guys, are you kidding with this?
Fine... I can continue playing, who cares what I am wearing...
Little Red Riding Hood? Well now I just look silly!

Apparently, this is a lesson to never leave Cameron alone with the parents of two girls! (Although I suppose one could argue that this is payback for all of the times that I made Paul and Matt dress up like girls...)

Happy Easter!

We spent Easter with the Holz's in Rochester. Cam had a blast looking for his Easter baskets and Easter eggs. He did pretty well looking for it too - he needed a bit of prodding for places to look, but kind of got the hang of it. Once we went outside for the egg hunt, he knew exactly what to do. He did not like the Easter grass that was in the baskets; he kept trying to dump it out and didn't like when it stuck to his hands.

Is my basket under here? No....
Here it is, I found it!
I got lots of good stuff!
Cam checking out his loot.
Another basket for me?
Cam got lots of "little balls", his name for jelly beans or little chocolate eggs.
I woke up from my nap before Mama woke up from her nap!
Outside on an egg hunt
Cam found one!!
After finding all of his eggs, Cam also found out that he could fly!
We all had a great Easter. Cam really loved finding his basket and eggs, and loved playing with all of his cousins!

We are saving Easter at home until when Tim comes home, so there will be more Easter pictures in a week or so.

Happy Easter!!

Rochester Zoo

We were in Rochester this past weekend. On Saturday, we went to the zoo with Uncle Jim, Aunt Jill, Maddy and Kelly. Cameron really enjoyed seeing the animals, especially the rhinos, meer cats and sea lions. Those were the animals that were the most active, so he liked watching them. He also loved playing on the playgrounds with Maddy and Kelly. Each of the took turns going around with Cam, showing him how to slide, or how to go through a tunnel. It was very sweet and he loved playing with the big kids.

Goodbye Fro!

So we went way too long between haircuts for Cameron, and the result was quite a fro on the poor kid. Last weekend I finally took him to get a haircut and he looks super cute now. Well, he was super cute before too, but now he has a decent haircut! Here are a few before and after pictures, along with a few other ones.

Before: I am pouting because I have a fro.

Before: The tousled look does work for me though, doesn't it?After: Much more streamlined and short.

Peek-a-Boo, I am cute!
I love to climb on chairs (and everything else!)

Update for Tim

As some of you know, Tim is out of town on travel. He called today and asked me to put up a post with some pictures of Cam, since he will be gone for two weeks. Unfortunately, he called when Cam and I were already in the car, so rather than nice pictures taken with the digital SLR, here are some lovely pics taken with my cell phone camera.

Hi Daddy - I am on my way to school!

Last night Mama and I went to a Crunch game. I got to see Al the Ice Gorilla and I was SO excited and happy. I smiled and waved any time he was in the arena.

I miss you Daddy, and I love you and I can't wait for you to get home!!

Love, Cam

P.S. Posts from Grand Cayman are temporarily on hold because we are having issues with our laptop and that is where all the pictures are. Hopefully I can resume posting soon because there are some great pictures coming up!
